    Helpful Hints

What size unit do I need?
5 x 10 unit: boxes, bins, knock-down furniture; bicycles; one motorcycle
10 x 10 unit: studio/one bedroom apartment, including sofa and table and chairs
10 x 15 unit: two-bedroom apartment, small house; multiple pieces of furniture
    10 x 20 unit: three-bedroom house or single auto
    10 x 25 unit or 10 x 30 unit: full contents of house with attic/basement

Do I need insurance for items that I store?
B-EB Highway Storage Village is not responsible for items that you store in our village. If you are storing items that can be ruined and that you will want/need to replace, and if you have homeowner's or renter's insurance, tell your broker that you have a self-storage unit, and want the contents covered. If you need to purchase insurance, please ask us for more information.

Can I store an auto in a self-storage unit?
Yes. We recommend use of oil absorbent mats, which you can purchase from us, to place under the vehicle. You can also rent an outdoor parking space for any size vehicle that you own; registration and proof of insurance must be provided when you sign up.

What is the advantage of climate controlled units?
Climate controlled self-storage avoids large temperature fluctuations related to outside temperatures. It is never colder than 55 degrees and never warmer than 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • Store audio and computer equipment, antiques and collectibles or other items that may suffer from dampness.
Is there anything I can do to minimize the effects of dampness in my self-storage unit?
Damp-Rid or Dry It Humidity Absorbers (sold at B-EB office) limits the effects of dampness and humidity on furniture and clothing that is stored in non-temperature controlled places. Nothing totally eliminates the effects of humidity/dampness, but climate-controlled self-storage is safer for items that may be damaged by temperature and humidity fluctuations.

How can I protect my furniture and mattresses from dust and dampness?
Loosely cover your furniture and mattresses with cloths or specially marked mattress bags and furniture covers (available at B-EB office and elsewhere).

Should I wrap my things in plastic to help keep them dry?
No. Condensation may form under the plastic, ruining your furniture. Place mattresses on pallets or 2 x 4's; cover loosely to minimize dust/dirt.
